I'm BAAAACK !!!!!!

So, my last blog post here (and on my Facebook group page) was somewhere around 2017!!!  WOW!!! I didn’t realize I have been technically “gone” from the blogging digi-world for so long. SO MUCH has changed in my little corner of the world.

Back in 2017 I was just an old married lady with 3 kids, whom have all grown up … the youngest just turned 21 this year!!  BUT …… the one thing I have been waiting for what seems like forever was to become a grandparent.  I became a “Mimi” for the first time on January 27, 2020.  My amazing grandson made his debut into the world earlier than expected. He was only 1 pound 3 ounces when he was born. Now, if you need a visual as to how big that really is (or isn’t). Pick up your television remote …. there you go. He was no bigger than that. Now he is over 12 pounds and proving everyday that he is the superhero we always knew he would be. You will see him a lot in some of my creative projects and scrapbook pages.

So, what else is new?  After over 15 + years in the graphic design business and loosing 3 jobs in 4 years due to small business not surviving; this girl went back to college!!!  Started in January of 2018 and I just graduated back in December of 2019 with a Healthcare Management Associates degree. And was due to walk for Graduation in May of this year … which unfortunately didn’t happen due to Covid.  Yeah, it really stinks … because me (at my age), worked my tail off graduating with honors and didn’t get that moment I wanted to have to walk across that stage. But I must focus on what is positive about this year and forget the rest.

The positive …. Yep #1 on that list is my amazing grandson. But also, too during this year while things were pretty much shutdown (and still is pretty much here), I got back to my creative roots!!!  I took the time and finished one whole vacation book and digitally scrapped the whole 119 pages. I have been trying desperately to finish one for years. And just never had the time to sit and focus on it …. thanks, Covid !?!?!?!?

But I also started digitally designing again. Made a custom gift for a great group of scrappers who “love the mouse” … *wink, wink* and gave it away as a prize during one of the speed scraps that were hosted to help us all regain our sanity in such a crazy time in this world. The reactions to it where astounding. I was thrilled at how it came out, and I decided then and there I would do much, much more.

My life has taken a much different turn and in addition to still running my freelance design business, I decided to focus on other creative avenue’s as well … time to jump back into the digital designing pool headfirst. It has been something I have wanted to do for such a long time and I have had a lot of time to focus on how I want to change things up, a new business name, and how I eventually want my business to grow in the future. The possibilities are endless !!!

So in between getting my WHOLE HOUSE organized (again, thanks Covid) … learning how to enjoy cooking and learning new recipes. My hubby surprising me with a Cricut machine for an anniversary gift. My creative life is back in full gear. And I am so incredibly excited. I know from past experience selling in the digiworld … it is a tough market. And I know my creative products aren’t ever going to make me a self-made millionaire. I am a realistic person who would much rather focus on the creative aspect and how it helps reduce my anxiety than how much money I can make off it. I am the most unmaterialistic person you will ever meet. Money doesn’t make you happy … at least in my neck of the woods it doesn’t. My family, good times, good food, finishing a creative project, or gifting someone something as a thank you is payment enough.

I am excited for those of you that have stuck around on this journey … and I hope you continue to enjoy my designs going forward. And please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or creative requests.

Bee creative & Bee kind,

Melissa
